Karolinska Institutet is looking for parents to join a study on children’s health!

Do you live in Södertälje or surrounding areas? Do you have a child aged 6-12 with a higher weight? Do you want support in how you can help your child to a healthier everyday life?

The purpose of the study is to evaluate a new model for family support where school and health care collaborate to support parents and children. The goal is to strengthen families in creating healthy habits and prevent future ill health.

How does the study work?

You will be randomized to participate in one of two groups:

  • More and Less: A parental support program with group meetings for ten weeks (on site or digitally). Here you get to meet other parents, discuss everyday situations around food, screen time and sleep – and get support in finding solutions that works in your family. The program is provided in easy Swedish.
  • Standard treatment: Together with healthcare professionals, you will make an individual plan for your child and the family's needs according to current recommendations.

The focus is on health and well-being – not body ideals!

Both groups will answer questionnaires on three occasions about the family's habits, the child's eating and movement behavior. The child's height and weight are measured on three occasions by the school nurse.

As a thank you for your time, you will receive SEK 950 when the study is completed

Please answer the questions below and we will contact you with more information. We look forward to hearing from you!
