Karolinska Institutet is looking for parents to join a research project on children’s health!

Do you live in Södertälje or surrounding areas? Do you have a child aged 6–12 years that has overweight or obesity? Would you like tips and support on how you, as a parent, can help your child live a healthier everyday life? If so, you’re welcome to take part in our study!

Why are we doing the study?

We want to test a new model of family support where schools and healthcare work together to support parents and children. Our goal is to strengthen families, make it easier to create healthy habits, and prevent future health problems.

What does it mean to participate?

You will be randomly assigned to one of two groups:

  • More and Less: a parental support program with 10 group meetings over 10 weeks (online or in-person). You’ll meet other parents, talk about everyday challenges like food, routines and conflicts, and get help finding solutions that work for your family. After the program, we’ll keep in touch with short phone calls every 6 weeks for a year.

  • Standard treatment: meetings with healthcare personnel where you create an individual plan for your child and the family's habits

Both options focus on health and well-being rather than weight or appearance

As a thank you for your time, you will receive a gift card worth 950 SEK when the study is completed.
