The lab part with Veronika, Agne and Thomas was great. Only a small thing, I would suggest having a recap every time with a student so that it is clearer what it is going on in the lab. Sometimes with the different procedure, you can be a bit confused. |
I thought that the combination of theory (in the morning) and lab work (in the afternoon) was excellent! A great way of learning. |
The practical labs were really useful as it gave students the necessary hands-on experiences. |

Spend some more time on discussing the students' results from their experiments, and why this is bad or wrong and this good or correct .... etc. |
Would be great if lecturers would exemplify methods with their own work. Like the mass spec guys did. Easier to follow and understand use of methods. Perhaps a little less lab. Maybe just rna exctraction, cDNA, qpcr and western + mass spec demo. Would have wanted a little bit more on data handling too and troubleshooting for different methods. |
Yes, Protein lectures should be before the practical part of the Western blot. |
Overall, I think the course is very good. However, there is still a room for improving the course.
If the organizers do not want to change the format of the course then some lectures in the morning could be removed for next year (Some were repetitive). Either you could have fewer lectures in the morning presenting in more details the techniques of the lab and divide in more days the practical. Or you could have more hours for the lectures and do a fewer experiment. The exam part is also very funny and interesting thus I would give more time to prepare that. |
Hmmm... possible be longer so you can get a little more deeper knowledge about the methods, otherwise a great course. |
The scheduling of the lab practicals (or maybe just the arrangement of protocol documents) can probably be improved a little bit. |
