Visiting the Zebrafish core facility

Karolinska Institutet, Campus Solna

Welcome to the Zebrafish Core Facility at Karolinska Institutet in Solna!

The zebrafish is an important animal model for research – both to understand underlying biological processes but also to develop new treatments against major diseases such as cancer, Alzheimer’s disease, or ALS.

Moreover, the zebrafish is an important puzzle piece in trying to reduce the number of other laboratory animals like mice and rats as many experiments can be performed on this tropical fish.

During your visit you will be able to explore, together with our staff, the zebrafish core facility. You will see how we keep thousands of fish and the highly complex aquatic infrastructure required and we are sure that looking at living zebrafish embryos through the microscope – seeing the beating heart and blood being transported through its tiny vessels - will be mind-blowing!

We will furthermore present some of the research projects being conducted at the facility right now and explain how they can help patients in the future.

A maximum of 12 people can sign up per slot, first come first served. After the registration is closed, we will get back to you with more information concerning your visit.

In the meantime, if you have any questions please feel free to contact zebrafish-office@km.ki.se or visit our website https://ki.se/en/research/zebrafish-core-facility.
